As part of continued efforts to improve the user experience, Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) released an update to the referral service in March 2024. The update involved the collation of referral responses, making working with utility plans easier for thousands of users who submit plan requests daily. This update is a significant change to the way you receive BYDA responses and is a direct result of valuable user feedback.

Referral response collation

BYDA’s collated response feature is now the standard for receiving referral plans and information once you lodge a free enquiry. This means users can log in and view or download all asset owner plans and safety information in a single place rather than receiving multiple emails.

Improved accessibility

After lodging a BYDA enquiry, an enquiry success screen displays a short safety message from each responding asset owner. This enables users to access an overview of how to protect each members assets while waiting for all responses to arrive. This streamlines users’ access to important information for efficient and safe project operations.

As users receive responses, they can view all returned content directly within their BYDA account or download the various asset owners’ information. Users can toggle between viewing asset owner cover letters, plans, and the various safety information with their browser. It’s also possible to download all responses or share the information with team members using the BYDA job number.

What do users need to do?

With the change in effect as of 7th March 2024, users logging in to their BYDA account will need to set how they would like to be notified when referral responses are received. The default setting is to receive a notification once all responses are returned. This means users can access plans and information directly in their browser. Alternatively, you can choose to receive a notification for each referral response as it is returned or continue to receive individual referral notifications.

This change is part of our commitment to ongoing improvements to the referral service to meet the needs of BYDA users and the industry. There is no cost for the added features; this is now BYDA’s standard referral response viewer.
